The powerful Netbiter feature “Remote Access” allows you to open up a secure connection to remote Siemens Automation equipment, and configure, program or operate it using TIA portal™ or Step7™ from any location, just like being on-site.
Remote access provides a secure data tunnel to the remotely located equipment. This Netbiter Argos™ feature is used together with the New Netbiter EasyConnect EC300-series communication gateway.
With a Netbiter EasyConnect EC300-series gateway connected to any Siemens branded PLC, it is possible to perform remote debugging or programming of the PLC from any location.
"Netbiter Quick Connect" is a software program which you install on your office computer. This opens up a secure tunnel to a Netbiter EC300-series gateway which is connected to your remote device on site.
The tunnel is set up through the Netbiter Argos data center (www.netbiter.net). Once the tunnel is established, PLC programmers or machine owners can simply open your regular Siemens configuration software (TIA portal, Step7) and configure or debug just as if they were on site.
Get started - Buy a gateway
The examples below show how to access Siemens PLCs remotely using Netbiter. After you have installed the Netbiter Quick Connect Tool on your local PC, you can easily establish a secure communication channel through the internet to access your PLC on site.
The Netbiter solution works with the TIA portal as well as the STEP 7 Manager and you can use these powerful tools in the same way as if the PLC would be locally connected to your PC.
Both serial RS232/485 and Ethernet LAN connections are possible between the gateway and PLC or device. Only an Netbiter EC300 series gateway supports Remote Access.
Go to www.netbiter.net and set up your account. Enter the device ID and activation code you received in your Netbiter product box.
Your new gateway needs to be enabled for Remote Access. You do this the first time you log into Netbiter Argos.
Download and run Netbiter Quick Connect. You can download it from here.
Via the Network Bridge connection method you need to know your own IP address, your Netmask, and the IP address for the machine you are connecting.
When the tunnel is open, you can use TIA portal or Step7 to configure as usual, just as if you were on site.
